Maloof trip
started at the underground sake spot once we got to town...
ended up at Max Fish until 4 and was struggling the next day
Williamsburg
eventually made it to the contest
mad mexicans playing sports everywhere
young brrn made it to the city for the finals
the art show at KCDC had free booze. wasnt taking any photos with pros before then, but got bent and figured I should get some proof of who was at the parties. Louie and Curren Caples are 4 ft tall
Rowley was lurking
David reppin master of puppets
the photo I was most hyped on didn't come out. Lizard was shredding all night
Haslam
Descenzo was having a good time even though he got robbed in the contest. Malto said I should get a twofer. Chilled with Dollin the most cause he was posted at the bar too
Started getting pretty beligerent around now, went and annoyed O'dell for awhile after this. Lost my phone in the cab and forgot to upload some epic photos with Pudwill. He was pretty wasted too and I never got the beer he was gonna buy me. I was tempted to just blurt out "lazerflip." There were tons of other pros worth getting pics with but I was trying not to be too much of a fan. haha, total fail.

the devil
According to legend, as a young black man living on a plantation in rural Mississippi, Robert Johnson was branded with a burning desire to become a great blues musician. He was "instructed" to take his guitar to a crossroad near Dockery Plantation at midnight. There he was met by a large black man (the Devil) who took the guitar and tuned it. The "Devil" played a few songs and then returned the guitar to Johnson, giving him mastery of the instrument. This was, in effect, a deal with the Devil mirroring the legend of Faust. In exchange for his soul, Robert Johnson was able to create the blues for which he became famous.
In "Me And The Devil" he began, "Early this morning when you knocked upon my door/Early this morning, umb, when you knocked upon my door/And I said, 'Hello, Satan, I believe it's time to go,'" before leading into "You may bury my body down by the highway side/You may bury my body, uumh, down by the highway side/So my old evil spirit can catch a Greyhound bus and ride."
Contemperary reinterpertation...
Some people said that Robert’s deal with the devil came due and as evidence gave the fact that they had seen him on all fours, howling at the moon the night he died.
The truth is that Robert was poisoned, either by the barkeeper at the saloon he played that night, who was angry because Robert had been talking to his wife, or by a jealous girlfriend.
Whatever the reason, Johnson died at the young age of twenty-seven, and left a legacy of Delta Blues music that has influenced guitar players like Muddy Waters, and his songs have been covered by several rock stars, including Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones.

BONG BONG
GZA, RZA at Work on Liquid Swords 2
Last year, Raekwon roared back into relevance with Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II, an instant-classic piece of tangled, bloody-minded throwback rap and the best long-player in years from the extended Wu-Tang Clan family. And it looks like Rae's Wu-Tang comrade GZA may be attempting a similar trick right now, crafting a sequel to his eternally ice-cold 1995 masterwork Liquid Swords.
Wu-Tang figurehead RZA posted the news on his Twitter yesterday, also claiming that he'd produce the album: "IT'S TRUE: "LIQUID SWORDS 2" PRODUCED BY THE ABBOT RZA COMING FALL 2010. WHO'S READY FOR THE WU? BONG BONG". GZA's rep confirms that he's working on the album.
If this works out, hopefully we'll see even more sequels to that first wave of Wu-Tang solo albums. God knows an Ironman 2 from Ghostface Killah would be pretty amazing, even if it'd be too late for a movie tie-in. (Too bad we've already had underwhelming sequels to Method Man's Tical.)

SANER
Saner methodologically lit his carefull rendered canvas paintings on fire to exemplify their transience, as well as the personal meaning they carry for him personally. Understandable, Saner tells us, “This show is very important in my life.”
Saner elaborates:
“180 minutes of life:
The installation - consisting of 11 paintings and 2 murals - gave life to the concept of closing cycles. During this time, I released the work, understanding it as a whole for its value (personal, artistic, material, economic) and freed it.
“The objective of this experience was to prove that we can stop being apprehensive in every aspect of our life; whether it is love, ideas, money, assets or even our past.
“This installation proves that paints and murals can last beyond space and time. All are ephemeral because they could only be appreciated for 180 minutes and materially speaking, were destroyed by fire. But in their ashes and in memory, they have left a mark.”
